NGEN Group Invests EUR 50 Million in Latvia's First Tesla-Integrated Battery Storage Project
NGEN Group has acquired 100% of Liepāja ESS in Latvia with a EUR 50 million investment to develop a standalone grid-connected battery energy storage project. The facility will have an operating power of 100 MW and a capacity of 200 MWh, located near the Grobiņa substation in Dienvidkurzeme, and is expected to commence operations in the second half of the year.
This project will be the first in the Baltics utilizing Tesla technology and is directly linked to the country's transmission system operator, Augstsprieguma tīkls. The initiative aims to enhance Latvia's energy infrastructure and security, particularly after the country's disconnection from the BRELL network.
The project is supported by NATO supply chains, and NGEN Group emphasizes the orderly regulations in Latvia as a factor for investment. The total project cost is estimated at EUR 30 million.
