NHPC Commissions Third 250 MW Unit of 2000 MW Subansiri Hydroelectric Project in India
NHPC Limited has announced the commercial operation of the third 250 MW unit of the 2000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project. With this addition, the project now has an operational capacity of 750 MW. The unit's trial run was completed on February 27, 2026. The project, located on the border of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, aims to enhance grid stability and integrate renewable energy into the national grid.

NHPC Limited has commenced the commercial operation of the third unit (Unit #1, 250 MW) of its 2000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, achieving a total operational capacity of 750 MW. The project, located on the border of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, is one of India's largest hydroelectric projects.
The unit completed its trial run on February 27, 2026. This milestone is expected to enhance grid stability and support the integration of renewable energy into the national grid. NHPC aims to commission the remaining units on schedule to reach the project's full capacity of 2000 MW.
