NI Water Implements Phragmafiltre® Technology for Sustainable Wastewater Treatment
NI Water has launched a nature-based wastewater treatment facility at Aghanloo, featuring Phragmafiltre® technology. This initiative aims to enhance wastewater management sustainably while reducing operational costs and environmental impact.

NI Water has completed the installation of a new eco-friendly wastewater treatment facility at Aghanloo utilizing Phragmafiltre® technology, which incorporates reed beds for natural water treatment. This system, covering 3,000 square meters with over 10,000 planted reeds, is designed to meet environmental standards efficiently while minimizing energy use.
The construction involved Lowry Building & Civil Engineering and Avove Ireland, with project oversight from TetraTech. NI Water's commitment to sustainable infrastructure is further evidenced by similar projects in Ballykelly, Loughries, Stoneyford, Clabby, and Castle Archdale. The facility is expected to serve the community sustainably for the next 20 years.
