Nifty Infrastructure Index Gains 0.31% in August 2026, Driven by Power and Logistics Sectors
The Nifty Infrastructure index closed at 9,142.60, reflecting a 0.31% increase due to strong performances in power and logistics. As India progresses through FY27, the reliance on capital expenditure, projected at Rs 11.11 lakh crore, underscores the sector's potential amidst execution risks.

On August 31, 2026, the Nifty Infrastructure index rose to 9,142.60, marking a gain of 28.35 points or 0.31%. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. increased by 0.67% to Rs 318.45, supported by its regulated return model.
NTPC Ltd. saw a rise of 0.54% to Rs 389.20, balancing coal generation with renewable energy expansion. Larsen and Toubro Ltd. advanced 0.43% to Rs 3,612.80, bolstered by a robust order book exceeding Rs 5.5 lakh crore.
However, Adani Ports declined by 0.18% to Rs 1,298.40, as investors evaluated its diversification strategy. The broader narrative for FY27 is built on substantial budget allocations, but execution remains a key concern. Institutional constraints may hinder the conversion of announced investments into realized projects.
