Niger Launches National Digital Development Strategy to Enhance Connectivity and Economic Growth
Niger's government is validating a new national digital strategy to address the digital divide affecting approximately 70% of its population. The National Digital Development Policy (PNDN 2026-2035) and the Digital Sector Development Plan (PSDN 2026-2030) were launched on March 11.
Key measures include expanding digital infrastructure, modernizing public administration via e-government, and improving rural connectivity. The strategy also aims to promote digital financial inclusion and support local startups.
The 'Smart Villages' project, supported by the World Bank, seeks to connect over 2,000 rural communities with broadband internet. A national data center and an expanded fiber-optic network are also part of the plan.
