Nigerian Army Averts Communal Conflict in Benue-Cross River States
The Nigerian Army successfully intervened to prevent a potential escalation of communal violence between Benue and Cross River states. This was achieved through a rescue operation that freed 36 individuals from captivity amid tensions over alleged livestock theft.

Nigerian Army troops rescued 36 Benue indigenes from captivity in Imaje Community, Cross River State, averting a larger communal crisis. The operation involved the 130 Battalion (Rear) and the 341 Artillery Regiment, triggered by reports of the host community holding Benue residents captive following a livestock theft incident.
Security personnel remain active in the area to deter potential reprisals while investigations are underway. This incident highlights the critical role of military intervention in managing communal conflicts, particularly in regions susceptible to tensions over resources and local disputes.
