Nigerian Army Increases Security Measures for National Infrastructure
The Nigerian Army has ordered 16 Brigade to enhance protection of critical national infrastructure. This directive comes amid growing concerns over security threats and aims to ensure the stability of national assets vital for economic development.

Major General Everest Okoro, GOC of 6 Division, has instructed troops of 16 Brigade to intensify their efforts in safeguarding critical national infrastructure. This directive was issued during a visit to the Brigade's headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, from August 5 to 7, 2026.
Okoro emphasized the need for proactive identification of security threats and underscored the importance of timely interventions to prevent sabotage. He also highlighted the necessity of maintaining professionalism and discipline among troops and strengthening community relations through engagement initiatives. The GOC's tour included visits to various military units across Bayelsa and Rivers States, where he received operational updates and assessed ongoing projects, fostering inter-service collaboration.
