Nigerian Student Develops Autonomous Firefighting Robot at NAUB
Muhammad Inuwa Abdullahi, a final-year IT student at Nigerian Army University Biu, has created an autonomous firefighting robot. This innovation highlights the potential of local technological solutions to address safety challenges in indoor environments.

Muhammad Inuwa Abdullahi has developed an autonomous firefighting robot capable of detecting and extinguishing indoor fires autonomously, utilizing the Arduino Uno microcontroller platform. This project, a culmination of his studies at Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB), aims to provide rapid fire response in environments such as homes, offices, and schools, potentially reducing fire-related damages.
The robot navigates towards flames and activates a water pump for suppression. Abdullahi's work illustrates the increasing innovation capacity within Nigerian universities and underscores the importance of supporting local talent in developing indigenous solutions to societal challenges. The project may pave the way for advanced emergency response systems integrating AI and IoT technologies.
