Nigeria's President Tinubu Approves Funds for Space Assets Maintenance and Development
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has mandated the immediate release of funds for the maintenance of Nigeria's space assets, emphasizing the nation's active participation in the global space economy projected to surpass $1 trillion by 2040. During the inaugural National Space Council meeting, Tinubu highlighted the need for measurable outcomes in Nigeria's space policy, which includes the implementation of a revised 25-year roadmap and the establishment of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Space Centre to enhance satellite capabilities.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the immediate release of funds for maintaining Nigeria's space assets as part of a commitment to the revised 25-year National Space Policy. This decision was made during the first National Space Council meeting, emphasizing Nigeria's active role in the growing global space economy.
The President instructed the Federal Ministry of Finance to ensure timely fund allocation and urged compliance with the regulatory framework under the NASDRA Act 2010. Additionally, a working group of space experts will refine the 25-year roadmap, and the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Space Centre will be developed to enhance satellite launching capabilities, reducing reliance on foreign expertise.
