Nine Ships to Double Workforce with New Facility on Former Hammermill Site
Nine Ships plans to build a $14 million manufacturing facility, doubling its workforce from nearly 100 employees. The Erie County Redevelopment Authority is providing grant support for this expansion, crucial for the local economy.

Nine Ships, a consortium of three companies, is set to construct a new manufacturing facility on former Hammermill Paper Company land, aiming to double its workforce. The expansion is supported by a $14 million grant from the Erie County Redevelopment Authority, which is essential for the project’s realization.
Currently, Modular Engineering, one of the companies, produces pre-fabricated industrial enclosures, increasing output from 10 to 100 units annually due to rising demand in the data center and power industries. The expansion will create jobs for engineers, estimators, and project managers across all three businesses. This development is positioned to revitalize the historic site and enhance job opportunities in the local construction sector.
