NIT-K and DGMS Sign MoU for Enhanced Mining Safety Collaboration
NIT-K and DGMS have established a three-year partnership to advance mining safety and education through joint projects. This collaboration encompasses research in advanced mining technologies, health and safety standards, and training programs for DGMS personnel.

The National Institute of Technology-Karnataka (NIT-K) and the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance mining safety and technical education. The agreement outlines a framework for collaboration over three years, focusing on joint projects in research and outreach.
Key areas of research include advanced mining technologies, occupational health, automation, and the development of a national database for mine safety. Additionally, NIT-K will provide guidance on accident investigations and develop standards for mining equipment. The partnership will also facilitate training for DGMS officers in various technical and safety-related subjects, potentially leading to improved safety protocols in Indian mining operations.
