NITI Aayog Member Advocates India-Japan Collaboration for Mobility and Clean Energy Initiatives
V.K. Saraswat of NITI Aayog stated that India should collaborate with Japan to enhance its mobility and clean energy sectors at the Japan-India Mobility Summit 2026. He noted India's capabilities in software and AI complemented by Japan's advanced technology and engineering excellence.
India can serve as a testbed for innovations like hydrogen grid corridors and EV systems. Emphasis was placed on the adoption of plug-in hybrid vehicles for better lifecycle emissions. The partnership should also focus on technology co-creation in sustainable mobility solutions. Japanese officials highlighted the transformative potential of high-speed rail projects in Bengaluru for economic growth.
