Nitto Kohki Establishes New Fukushima Facility to Enhance Manufacturing and Support Regional Revitalization

On March 1, 2024, Medotech and Shirakawa Nitto Kohki merged to form Tohoku Nitto Kohki and established a new factory in Fukushima City. This new facility aims to replace aging sites, increasing productivity through automation and robotics.

It retains approximately 70% of the 240 employees from the legacy factories, offering commuting options and corporate dormitory accommodations. The factory incorporates advanced technologies like automated warehouses and guided vehicles, aiming for 24-hour operations.

It emphasizes eco-friendliness by reducing emissions and electricity consumption. Designed by architect Kengo Kuma, the facility aims to create a proud working environment. The factory also aims to combat regional population decline by hiring local talent and boosting subcontracting opportunities. Furthermore, Nitto Kohki is developing hydrogen technologies and products to support a sustainable energy future.
