NMSU and Albuquerque Civil Air Patrol Complete Rocket Launches at Spaceport America

On February 14, 2026, students from New Mexico State University (NMSU) and the Albuquerque Civil Air Patrol Group NM-079 launched rockets at Spaceport America. NMSU students focused on earning Level 1 certifications from the National Association of Rocketry (NAR), achieving success with 10 out of 11 rockets launched, reaching altitudes of up to 1,700 feet.

The Albuquerque Civil Air Patrol team completed three launches as part of the American Rocketry Challenge, which is recognized as the world's largest student rocket competition. Spaceport America aims to foster local rocketry communities and support future workforce development in the aerospace sector.
