Nokia Introduces New Optical Networking Solutions for AI and Cloud Infrastructure
Nokia has launched a suite of application-optimized coherent optical transport solutions aimed at enhancing network efficiency and reducing costs by up to 70%. Key innovations include high-capacity coherent pluggable solutions (1.6T to 3.2T), full-band transponders, and a multi-rail in-line amplifier that supports 160 fiber pairs. These technologies are designed to meet the growing demands of AI and hyperscale data centers. Nokia will present these advancements at the OFC conference in Los Angeles, with the new solutions expected to be available between 2026 and 2027.

Nokia has unveiled a suite of optical networking innovations to tackle the connectivity needs driven by AI and hyperscale data centers. The new coherent optical transport solutions utilize a modular building-block approach, including digital signal processors and various pluggable technologies ranging from 1.6T to 3.2T.
A multi-rail in-line amplifier, capable of supporting 160 fiber pairs in a single rack, addresses space constraints in multi-fiber architectures. These developments aim to lower total cost of ownership by up to 70%, enhance operational efficiency, and are set for sampling in mid-2027, with general availability in the second half of 2027.
