Noor Chad Solar Project Launched as Chad's First Utility-Scale Solar Plant with Battery Storage
Global South Utilities has launched the Noor Chad solar project, Chad's first utility-scale solar power plant with battery storage. Located near N'Djamena, the 50 MWp solar plant, combined with a 5 MWh battery system, aims to provide stable power and reduce reliance on imported diesel. The project will supply renewable electricity to approximately 274,000 homes and is expected to cut carbon emissions by over 1.36 million tonnes. The initiative supports Chad's 'Chad Connection 2030' plan for improved electricity access.

The Noor Chad solar project, developed by Global South Utilities, is Chad's first utility-scale solar power plant with integrated battery storage. Situated near N'Djamena, it features a 50 MWp solar photovoltaic plant and a 5 MWh battery system, intended to stabilize power supply and decrease dependence on costly diesel imports.
The plant will provide renewable electricity to about 274,000 homes and is projected to reduce carbon emissions by over 1.36 million tonnes. The project, completed ahead of schedule, is part of Chad's 'Chad Connection 2030' initiative to enhance electricity access.
