NordSpace Advances Canada’s First Orbital Launch Capability at Atlantic Spaceport Complex
NordSpace Corp. is developing Canada's first vertically-integrated orbital launch capability at the Atlantic Spaceport Complex (ASX). The initiative aims to enhance national security and boost the aerospace sector through job creation and domestic manufacturing.

On July 14, 2026, NordSpace hosted government officials at its Atlantic Spaceport Complex (ASX) in Newfoundland and Labrador, providing insights into the ongoing construction of Space Launch Complex 01 (SLC-01) and Space Launch Complex 02 (SLC-02). The ASX is set to support various missions and aims to establish a sovereign space capability for Canada, including intelligence and communications services.
Construction is advancing toward the development of dedicated orbital launch pads for light and medium-lift vehicles, leveraging local supply chains. Upcoming suborbital tests of the Taiga rocket will validate key technologies and regulatory frameworks necessary for future launches. This initiative is integral to Canada's Defence Industrial Strategy.
