North Carolina Expands Energy Saver NC Rebate Program Amid Rising Power Bills
Governor Josh Stein announced the statewide expansion of the Energy Saver NC rebate program in response to rising electricity costs and grid pressures in North Carolina. The program, now available in all 100 counties, provides up to $16,000 for whole-home efficiency upgrades and $14,000 for energy-efficient appliances, with estimated savings of nearly $1,000 per year for eligible households.
This initiative comes as Duke Energy seeks additional rate increases due to increased electricity demand, particularly from industrial growth such as data centers. The Energy Saver NC program is federally funded with a budget of $208 million through the U.S.
Department of Energy. A report from the North Carolina Energy Policy Task Force is expected to outline strategies for managing growing electricity demand sustainably.
