North Sinai Development Plan Launches Key Infrastructure Projects
The North Sinai development initiative includes a new 353 km railway and a 300,000 cubic metre per day desalination plant, with investments aimed at enhancing economic activity in the region. This multi-faceted program is set to transform transport, industry, and water infrastructure through significant public and private investments.

A multi-sector development programme in North Sinai is advancing with key projects such as a 353 km railway and a desalination plant expanding to 300,000 cubic metres per day. The railway will connect Bir El-Abd, Arish, and Ras El-Naqb, complementing a 12 km link to Arish Port to facilitate freight movement.
Industrial growth is marked by a new EGP 530 million plastics factory in the Bir El-Abd zone, capable of producing approximately 55 million woven sacks annually. Additional infrastructure upgrades include a 20 km road link and enhancements to the Qantara East-Arish road. This initiative aims to establish North Sinai as an economic hub, leveraging extensive public investment and private sector involvement through 2030.
