Ida Huddleston and her daughter Delsia Bare from Northern Kentucky declined a $26 million offer for their 1,200-acre farmland near Maysville, opposing the construction of a data center. They emphasize the importance of their land for agriculture and community, rejecting the financial incentive from an unnamed AI company. Ida Huddleston and her daughter Delsia Bare turned down a $26 million offer for their 1,200 acres of farmland near Maysville, Kentucky, rejecting the proposal for a data center from an unnamed AI company. The offer was significantly higher than the market value of $6,000 per acre.
Despite financial temptation, they prioritize their agricultural heritage and community impact. The AI company has revised its plans to proceed with the project using land acquired from other sellers. Zoning requests for the data center involve nearly 28 agricultural parcels, totaling over 2,000 acres, with public meetings set for March 25 and 26.
