Northern Territory Targets $2 Billion Gold Production with Exploration Initiatives
The Northern Territory aims for gold production to reach nearly $2 billion in 2024/25, with Mining Minister Gerard Maley advocating for increased exploration to develop underutilized gold assets. Beyond gold, the state is also focusing on expanding copper, iron ore, and critical minerals like bauxite and uranium to create a diverse minerals sector for long-term economic growth. The Annual Geoscience Exploration Seminar (AGES) will be held in Alice Springs on April 14-15 to discuss industry advancements and investment opportunities.

The Northern Territory's gold production is projected to approach $2 billion in 2024/25, following a record $1.7 billion output. Mining Minister Gerard Maley emphasizes the need for further exploration to develop the region’s gold potential, which remains underdeveloped.
The state is also targeting growth in copper, iron ore, and critical minerals to foster a diverse minerals sector. The Annual Geoscience Exploration Seminar (AGES) in Alice Springs on April 14-15 will feature discussions on resource development and investment strategies, highlighting areas like Tennant Creek and the McArthur Basin.
