Northumberland Council Allocates £485,000 for Seahouses Primary Heating System Upgrade
Northumberland County Council has approved £485,000 for upgrading the heating system at Seahouses Primary School. The investment aims to reduce energy costs and address long-standing heating issues faced by the school and Busy Bees Nursery.
Northumberland County Council has sanctioned £485,000 for heating system improvements at Seahouses Primary School. The current Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) system is non-operational due to a metering issue, leading to a temporary reliance on an oil heating system costing £744 weekly.
The upgrade will separate the heating systems for the school and nursery, mitigating unnecessary energy expenses during school holidays. Planned enhancements include new roof insulation, an Air Source Heat Pump for the nursery, and increased GSHP capacity. This project aims to improve energy management and resolve existing health and safety concerns related to inadequate heating and water hygiene.
