Norway Completes First Electric Aviation Test Project with BETA Technologies and Bristow

ADVANCED AIR MOBILITY (AAM) / NEXT-GEN AVIATION

On January 28, 2026, Norway completed its first electric aviation test project, marking a milestone in low- and zero-emission aviation. The project, part of an international test arena, involved six months of operational testing with the BETA Technologies ALIA aircraft.

Regular test flights occurred on a cargo route between Stavanger and Bergen, allowing stakeholders to gain practical experience with electric aircraft operations, charging infrastructure, and regulatory frameworks. The project highlighted the need for robust charging solutions and training for emergency services.

It was conducted in collaboration with Bristow, BETA Technologies, Avinor, and CAA Norway, and is expected to inform future developments in advanced air mobility. The project successfully demonstrated the safe introduction of new aviation technologies in a regulated environment.
