Norwegian Expert Committee on Climate Adaptation Releases Final Report on Societal Impact
The Expert Committee on Climate Adaptation in Norway emphasizes that climate change impacts all sectors, necessitating shared responsibility for adaptation. The report, influenced by SINTEF's contributions, highlights the socioeconomic challenges and potential benefits associated with climate adaptation strategies.

The Expert Committee on Climate Adaptation presented its final report, indicating that climate change affects all societal sectors and that adaptation is a collective responsibility. Led by Ingrid Hjort and established by the Norwegian government in July 2024, the committee assessed the socioeconomic implications of climate change and proposed strategies for effective adaptation.
Key findings suggest that while private sector adaptation can be economically beneficial, barriers such as information gaps and unclear responsibilities hinder optimal societal responses. The power sector is noted to be well-prepared for climate challenges, expecting a 1.3% increase in hydropower production by mid-century. Recommendations include enhancing climate research funding, improving data systems on climate damage, and empowering regional governance for adaptation planning.
