Norwegian Startup Aikido Technologies to Test AI Data Centers on Floating Wind Turbines
Aikido Technologies plans a 100 kW prototype of AI data centers on floating wind turbines by December 2026 in the North Sea. This initiative aims to leverage cold ocean water for server cooling, potentially mitigating energy demands on land-based facilities.

Aikido Technologies aims to deploy a 100 kW prototype of AI data centers on a floating wind turbine in the North Sea by December 2026. The project combines wind energy generation, battery storage, and natural cooling from ocean water, targeting a reduction in operational costs compared to traditional cooling systems.
The initial prototype will serve as a proof of concept, with future commercial versions capable of 10 to 12 MW per platform. The offshore location presents challenges such as corrosion and maintenance, but could alleviate pressures on land-based data centers amid rising energy demands from AI. If successful, this model could transform energy and computing in harsh marine environments.
