Nova Power & Gas Launches 200MW BESS in Romania; Multiple European Energy Storage Projects Announced
Nova Power & Gas has launched a 200MW/400MWh battery energy storage system in Floresti, Romania, as part of a €350 million investment that also includes a gas plant and additional BESS projects. Concurrently, European Energy has begun operations on a 200MWh BESS at its Kvosted solar plant in Denmark, while various companies across Europe, including Trinasolar and BRUC, have announced significant BESS projects in Hungary and Spain, respectively. Gresham House Energy Storage Fund is also expanding its portfolio with acquisitions in Scotland and England.

Nova Power & Gas has commenced commercial operations for a 200MW/400MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Floresti, Romania, inaugurated on December 12. This investment, totaling €350 million (US$410 million), is part of a broader plan that includes a 160MW gas plant and an additional 600MW/1,200MWh of BESS projects.
Banca Transilvania financed the project. In Denmark, European Energy has initiated operations for a 200MWh BESS at its Kvosted solar plant, making it the largest solar and BESS site in Northern Europe.
Meanwhile, Trinasolar has secured a contract to supply 21MW/42MWh of BESS for the Raba Solar Park project in Hungary. In Spain, BRUC raised €474 million (US$554 million) to fund BESS additions to its 858MW solar portfolio, while ADS-TECH has received orders for BESS projects in Germany and Austria totaling 20MW/40MWh. Gresham House Energy Storage Fund is acquiring two projects in Scotland and England totaling 297MW.
