Novo Nordisk Appoints Anja Leth Zimmer as First Chief AI Officer
Novo Nordisk has appointed Anja Leth Zimmer as its first Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer, overseeing a global team of approximately 300 and focusing on the company's AI strategy. Zimmer, who joined Novo Nordisk in 2022 and has a background in digital transformation from Carlsberg, will report to Thilde Hummel Bøgebjerg. This move follows Eli Lilly's recent hiring of an AI director and aligns with Novo Nordisk's ongoing AI research collaborations with several tech firms.

Novo Nordisk has appointed Anja Leth Zimmer as its first Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer (CAIO) after a recruitment process. She will lead a team of around 300 globally, focusing on the company's AI strategy across the value chain.
Zimmer, who joined Novo Nordisk in 2022, previously worked at Carlsberg and has contributed to the company's digital transformation. She reports to Thilde Hummel Bøgebjerg, EVP of Quality, IT & Environmental Affairs.
The appointment follows Eli Lilly's hiring of its first AI director last year. Novo Nordisk has AI research collaborations with Valo Health, Insilico Medicine, Microsoft, and Nvidia, leveraging access to the Gefion supercomputer.
