NPSPL Initiates Rs 2,550 Crore Cathode Material Facility in Andhra Pradesh
NPSPL Speciality Chemicals secures approval for a Rs 2,550 crore investment to establish a cathode material manufacturing plant in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. This project aims to enhance India's domestic battery production capabilities and reduce reliance on imports, while generating approximately 400 jobs.

NPSPL Speciality Chemicals has received approval from the Andhra Pradesh government for a Rs 2,550 crore investment to establish a cathode material manufacturing facility in Chittoor district, covering 105 acres in Gudupalle Mandal. The project is designed to produce vital components for lithium-ion batteries, crucial for electric vehicles, consumer electronics, and energy storage systems.
It is part of the Andhra Pradesh Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy (2025-30) and includes incentives such as a 100% electricity duty exemption for a decade and capital subsidies. The initiative is expected to create about 400 direct jobs and supports local manufacturing, thus reducing import dependency for critical materials. This strategic move positions Andhra Pradesh as a key player in the electronics and energy sectors, responding to the increasing global demand for batteries and reinforcing domestic supply chains.
