NSCN (IM) Expels Leaders Amid Internal Conflict and Army Prepares Integrated Battle Groups
The NSCN (IM) expelled eight leaders due to disloyalty and insubordination in a significant internal conflict. Concurrently, the Indian Army is raising Integrated Battle Groups (IBGs) in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh, targeting operational readiness along the China border.

The NSCN (IM) expelled eight leaders between June and July 2026 for disloyalty and insubordination, including Lt Gen Hanshi Ramsan and Lt Gen Absalom Raman. These expulsions are part of a broader internal conflict that has seen members violating party directives and engaging in unauthorized operations.
Concurrently, the Indian Army is establishing Integrated Battle Groups (IBGs) in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh under the Mountain Strike Corps, with full operational capability expected by mid-2027. The IBGs will consist of approximately 5,000 personnel, integrating various combat formations for rapid response to threats. The developments in NSCN (IM) could destabilize the region, while the Army's restructuring aims to enhance combat readiness against emerging security challenges.
