NSW Government Allocates A$11.2m for Hard-to-Recycle Plastics Recycling Infrastructure
The Australian and NSW governments have allocated A$11.2m to enhance hard-to-recycle plastics recycling in New South Wales. This funding supports two projects: iQRenew in Kundle Kundle, receiving A$9.1m for upgrading to process 10,000 tonnes of soft plastics annually, and a new facility in Tamworth, receiving A$1.9m to process 7,000 tonnes of hard-to-recycle plastics. The initiatives aim to divert waste from landfills, create jobs, and strengthen the plastics circular economy.

The Australian and NSW governments have jointly allocated A$11.2m to enhance hard-to-recycle plastics recycling infrastructure in New South Wales. iQRenew in Kundle Kundle will receive A$9.1m for upgrades to process 10,000 tonnes of soft plastics annually, producing recycled resin for various products. A new facility in Tamworth will receive A$1.9m to process 7,000 tonnes of hard-to-recycle plastics into remanufacturable materials.
Both projects aim to create jobs and divert waste from landfills. This funding is part of a broader effort to strengthen the recycling infrastructure in Australia, which has seen low recycling rates for hard-to-process plastics.
