NTIA Launches Spectrum.gov to Enhance Spectrum Management and 6G Development
The NTIA has launched spectrum.gov to serve as a central platform for updates on federal spectrum policy and 6G initiatives. This site will support the administration's goals for spectrum allocation and the modernization of spectrum management.
Spectrum.gov is now operational, providing updates on federal spectrum allocation and advancements in 6G development, aligning with the NTIA's national spectrum strategy. This initiative follows the establishment of the Space Launch Frequency Coordination Portal, aimed at streamlining the review of spectrum requests from commercial satellite providers.
Recently, the FCC adopted measures to improve coordination between NGSO and GSO operators, and opened the 900 MHz spectrum band for licensed broadband services. These efforts to modernize spectrum management are critical as the U.S. aims to maintain leadership in the upcoming WRC-27 and enhance next-generation wireless innovation. The establishment of Spectrum.gov indicates a proactive approach to addressing the increasing demand for spectrum resources.
