NTU Singapore Unveils First Homegrown eVTOL Aircraft Prototype at Singapore Airshow 2026

ADVANCED AIR MOBILITY (AAM) / NEXT-GEN AVIATION

Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) has introduced Singapore's first locally designed electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft at the Singapore Airshow 2026. The prototype features an eight-metre wingspan and is powered by eight NTU-designed electric motors, enabling vertical take-off and landing.

The project, which took over three years to develop, is a collaboration involving industry partners and supports Singapore's aerospace research capabilities. The eVTOL programme aims to enhance urban mobility solutions in densely populated areas.

Led by Dr. James Wang, the initiative is backed by the Industry Alignment Fund under the Research, Innovation and Enterprise 2025 plan. The project collaborates with multiple partners for systems integration, materials, and testing, with aspirations for future commercialization of eVTOL technologies in Singapore.
