Nuquantic Launches Portable eDNA System for Field Sampling

Nuquantic has developed a portable environmental DNA (eDNA) system that allows for on-site filtration of water samples, eliminating the need to transport heavy samples back to laboratories. Retailing for approximately $1,800, this device is currently being tested in a Cambodian study for water virus detection.
The system processes samples in about 10 minutes per liter, addressing DNA degradation issues. Funded by TEDCO's $300,000 grant through the Maryland Innovation Initiative, Nuquantic's technology evolved from a single-pump to a three-pump filtration system.
This advancement may broaden its application, potentially benefiting less technical users in environmental monitoring sectors. The production will take place in Baltimore's Early Charm factory.
