Brattleboro Seeks Increased Funding for Water System Enhancements
Brattleboro plans to amend a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund loan, raising it from $1.98 million to $3.17 million to cover increased construction costs for water system upgrades. This funding will support the replacement of the Signal Hill Pump Station and installation of a standby generator, addressing critical deficiencies in the water system.

Brattleboro's Select Board has authorized an amendment to increase a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) loan from $1.98 million to $3.17 million for Phase 1 Water System Improvements. The contract for upgrading the Signal Hill Pump Station was awarded to Zaluzny Excavating Inc. for $1,880,990, following a significant rise in construction costs.
The amendment reflects an increase in the town's repayment obligation by approximately $595,000 while maintaining a favorable financing structure. The projects include essential upgrades identified during a state sanitary survey, with no immediate utility rate increases expected. The town aims to integrate future debt service into long-term financial strategies.
