NVIDIA and DOE Collaborate on Genesis Mission to Advance AI in Energy Sector

NVIDIA and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) are collaborating on the Genesis Mission, focused on applying AI to enhance scientific discovery in energy. This initiative includes the construction of two AI supercomputers at Argonne National Laboratory, with the first, Equinox, utilizing 10,000 NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GPUs, and a second, Solstice, planned to use 100,000 GPUs.
U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright emphasized the need to modernize the electricity grid to support AI's growth, pointing to small modular reactors and AI-driven efficiency improvements in energy production. The objective is to expedite energy-related innovations, including fusion and grid interconnection studies, thereby fostering advancements in both energy and AI technologies.
