NVIDIA is developing data centers in Latin America, with four in Chile, eight in Brazil, three in Mexico, and one in El Salvador. CEO Marcio Aguiar highlighted the need for improved infrastructure and political agility in the region to leverage AI technology.
The company collaborates with the Inter-American Development Bank for investment visibility. Brazil has the most developers, but high import taxes hinder investment. Argentina is attracting interest for data centers due to its climate and resources.
The Stargate project, announced by OpenAI and Sur Energy with a $25 billion investment, involves NVIDIA as a technology partner. Aguiar emphasized the necessity of regulatory frameworks for data sovereignty. NVIDIA has adjusted its strategy due to U.S.-China tensions and currently does not plan to rely on the Chinese market.
