Nvidia Unveils MB.Drive Assist Pro for Mercedes-Benz with Advanced AI Driving Capabilities
Nvidia has partnered with multiple automakers, including Mercedes-Benz, to develop AI-driven autonomous systems, contributing to its projected $5 billion automotive business by 2025. On January 5, Nvidia introduced the MB.Drive Assist Pro, an advanced AI driving system for the Mercedes-Benz CLA, which is priced at $47,250.
This system represents extreme SAE-Level 2 driving, allowing the vehicle to operate without driver input while still requiring driver attentiveness. The system utilizes 10 cameras, five radar sensors, and 12 ultrasonic sensors to gather data processed by a supercomputer.
Its performance was tested in San Francisco, where it demonstrated capabilities such as navigating complex traffic situations and adapting to road conditions. The system will be available in the U.S. by the end of the year at a subscription cost of $3,950 for three years. While it shows promise, the system currently only operates on city streets.
