Nvidia Unveils Vera Rubin Space Module for Orbital Data Centers with 25x AI Compute Power

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Nvidia introduced the Vera Rubin Space Module, promising up to 25 times more AI compute than the H100 for orbital data centers. Six companies, including Aetherflux and Axiom Space, have already deployed the module.

Designed for large language models and data processing in space, it features a tightly integrated CPU-GPU architecture. The IGX Thor targets mission-critical edge environments, while Jetson Orin is aimed at smaller satellites.

Nvidia's RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell series GPU is intended for geospatial workloads on Earth. The availability date for the Vera Rubin Space Module is yet to be determined.
