The Oakley City Council voted 4-1 to approve the Bridgehead Industrial Project, which will transform a 164-acre site into 3.1 million square feet of industrial warehouse and logistics facilities. The resolution excludes data centers after public and council concerns about environmental impact.
The project is expected to create 3,500 permanent jobs and generate significant revenue for Oakley's General Fund. Construction is projected to take 6 to 10 years, with facilities operating 24/7. The project was previously approved by the planning commission, which recommended a conditional use permit for data centers, later removed by the applicant.
