Ocean Sun Completes 2 MWp Floating Solar Installation at Soneva Secret Resort in Maldives
Ocean Sun has completed a 2 MWp floating solar installation at the Soneva Secret resort in the Maldives, complemented by a 3 MWh battery storage system. This project allows the resort to operate on up to 90% renewable energy, replacing diesel generators and saving approximately 1 million liters of diesel annually, which translates to a reduction of over 2,000 tons of CO2 emissions each year.
The project was developed in partnership with Singapore-based Canopy Power and included technology from Huawei. This installation represents Ocean Sun's first commercial near-shore system at megawatt scale and addresses significant technological and operational challenges. The model is replicable for numerous resort islands and larger island communities reliant on diesel, including the Canary Islands, Greek islands, and the Caribbean.
