OCP Announces Open Data Center Ecosystem for AI Innovations
The Open Compute Project Foundation has approved multiple contributions aimed at enhancing AI data center infrastructure. Key initiatives include new power distribution architectures and standardized designs for AI clusters, crucial for supporting the growing demands of AI technologies.

The Open Compute Project Foundation (OCP) has introduced several contributions to advance its Open Data Center Ecosystem for AI, first announced in October 2025. Approved initiatives encompass a roadmap for AI data centers, new power distribution architectures, and guidelines for energy storage systems.
The OCP is collaborating with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) to innovate data center power technologies and with the IOWN Global Forum to create a seamless computational infrastructure. The focus on AI clusters is vital as the industry faces increasing demands for scalability and efficiency, particularly in power distribution and networking. Failure to address these challenges could hinder the performance and reliability of AI data centers.
