Ohio EPA Terminates Madison Village's Wastewater Treatment Plant Permit
The Ohio EPA has terminated Madison Village's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit for its wastewater treatment plant. Village Administrator Jason Chapman confirmed the termination, which followed the decommissioning of the facility in 2025. The village had to complete all monthly reports on sludge removal before the permit could be canceled. Plans for the site include potential removal of scrap and consideration of selling parts through an online auction.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has terminated Madison Village's permit for its wastewater treatment plant. This follows the village's decommissioning of the facility in 2025, which included the removal of gray water and sludge.
The village needed to submit monthly reports for 2025 before the permit cancellation. Village Administrator Jason Chapman indicated that after snowplowing season, items will be removed for scrap, and further decisions on the site will be made. The decommissioning cost approximately $139,120, significantly lower than other quotes exceeding $500,000.
