The Ohio Power Siting Board has approved the construction of the 350-megawatt Apollo Power Generation Facility in Wood County, intended to supply power directly to a nearby Meta data center. The facility, operated by Will-Power OH, LLC, will use natural gas and feature 120 megawatts of battery storage, with construction set to begin around February 9, 2026. Despite the project's expedited approval, it has faced public opposition and raised concerns regarding air quality and potential carbon emissions exceeding 2.4 million tons annually.

The project was fast-tracked through an expedited review process, allowing construction to start on or about February 9, 2026. The facility's approval includes 34 conditions to mitigate environmental and operational impacts.
Concerns have been raised regarding air quality, potential carbon emissions exceeding 2.4 million tons annually, and the broader implications of infrastructure for data centers. The project is located within an area designated for economic development and has faced public opposition, with 14 comments submitted against the approval.
