Oil India Partners with CSIR-IMMT for Critical Mineral Processing Initiative
Oil India Limited has signed an MoU with CSIR-IMMT to enhance mineral processing capabilities for two critical mineral blocks, promoting self-reliance in India's mineral supply chain. This collaboration aligns with the National Critical Mineral Mission aimed at boosting domestic production and sustainable practices in the mining sector.

Oil India Limited (OIL) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT) to conduct mineral processing and beneficiation studies for two critical mineral blocks. This partnership marks OIL as the first Industry Spoke from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to collaborate with CSIR-IMMT, which is recognized as the largest Centre of Excellence for Critical Minerals under the National Critical Mineral Mission (NCMM).
The initiative, announced in the Union Budget 2024-25, aims to secure India’s critical mineral supply through domestic production and strategic acquisitions. OIL's focus on integrating Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for resource identification underscores a modern approach to mineral exploration. This partnership may enhance operational capabilities and contribute significantly to India's self-reliance in critical minerals.
