OIV Funds Five Research Projects Addressing Challenges in Global Viticulture
The International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) has initiated five research projects under its 2025 grants programme, targeting sustainability, climate change adaptation, and technological innovation in viticulture. Key studies include exploring sustainable alternatives to copper for managing grapevine pathogens and assessing grapevine responses to water stress. The funding is supported by OIV's budget and contributions from a consortium of global wine companies.

The International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) has launched five research projects funded through its 2025 grants programme, focusing on sustainability, climate change adaptation, technological innovation, and value chain resilience in the viticulture sector. Notable projects include a 15-month study on sustainable alternatives to copper in grapevine pathogen management and a six-month project examining grapevine responses to water stress.
Additional initiatives aim to enhance the sensory quality of dealcoholised wines and assess the stability of canned wines. Funding for the grants combines OIV's budget and contributions from a consortium of global wine companies including Familia Torres (Spain), Masi Agricola (Italy), and Moët & Hennessy (France), among others. The programme supports scientific projects designed to strengthen the competitiveness of the viticultural sector.
