Oklahoma Primary Aluminum is proposing a multi-billion-dollar aluminum smelting facility at the Port of Inola, the first of its kind in the U.S. in over 45 years. The facility aims to secure a domestic aluminum supply chain, as the U.S. currently imports 85% of its aluminum.
The project is projected to create 4,000 construction jobs and 1,000 permanent roles, with entry-level salaries around $100,000. Construction is expected to start by late 2026, with a targeted completion by the end of 2029. The facility will support various industries, including automotive and national defense.
