Olmsted County Board to Approve Contracts for $10.3 Million Materials Recovery Facility in Rochester, MN

CIRCULAR ECONOMY & RECYCLING

The Olmsted County Board will vote on contracts exceeding $10.3 million for a new Materials Recovery Facility in Rochester, funded by $10 million from the Minnesota Legislature. The largest contract of approximately $6.6 million is proposed for Kraus-Anderson Construction, with Ryan Mechanical providing the lowest bid for mechanical systems at $2.1 million, and McMartin Electric recommended for electrical systems at nearly $1.6 million.

The facility is designed to improve recycling and reduce operational costs by sorting recyclable materials, thereby delaying the need for expansion of the Waste-to-Energy Facility. Construction is anticipated to start this spring, with operations expected next year.
