Oman Plans $169 Million Investment in AI Sector by 2025, Expands Infrastructure Initiatives
Oman's Ministry of Transport and Communications and Information Technology plans to invest RO1.2 billion in the communications and information technology sector by 2025, including RO65 million specifically for artificial intelligence. The initiative also encompasses significant developments in transport and logistics, with ongoing road projects totaling 1,120 kilometers and the installation of electric vehicle chargers, alongside the launch of the first hydrogen production station. The ministry aims to enhance port management and green technologies through various concession agreements by 2026.

Oman's Ministry of Transport and Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) announced investments reaching RO1.2 billion in the communications and information technology sector, including approximately RO65 million in artificial intelligence (AI) by 2025. The transport and logistics sector attracted RO3.4 billion, with Omani ports handling over 143 million tonnes of goods and receiving 60 tourist ships in 2025.
The ministry reported 160 electric vehicle chargers installed and plans for 200 more by 2026. The first hydrogen production station was launched, supporting 15 green hydrogen vehicles. The number of AI startups increased to 22, and total road projects under implementation for 2026 amount to about 1,120 kilometers at a cost of RO1.2 billion. The ministry aims for various concession agreements in 2026, focusing on port management and green technologies.
