OMI Advances Testing of 3-Minute Charge Battery Technology
OMI is advancing its testing of a new 3-minute charging battery technology, focusing on its LnFP cathode material. This innovation aims to set a new industry standard for fast charging while ensuring safety and reliability.

OMI is in the advanced testing phase for its 3-minute charge battery, emphasizing the performance of its proprietary 20C-capable LnFP cathode material. Current trials involve extensive charge and discharge cycles to validate the battery’s rapid charging capabilities for applications in electric vehicles, mobile devices, and industrial equipment.
The technology features a nano-engineered, iron-based chemistry that allows for quick lithium-ion transport without overheating, while also eliminating cobalt to reduce supply chain risks. With small-scale production expected in the U.S. by 2027, OMI aims to prove that ultra-fast charging can be reliably achieved in mass production. This technology could significantly transform energy storage solutions by incorporating ultra-fast charging as a standard feature.
