ONGC Appoints Vinod Seshan as Government Nominee Director; PESB Recommends Anupam Misra for HCL CMD
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has appointed Shri Vinod Seshan as Government Nominee Director effective 9 March 2026. Shri Seshan, currently Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, has over two decades of experience in public policy and governance. Separately, the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) recommended Shri Anupam Misra for the role of Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), succeeding Shri Rajeev Ranjan. This recommendation follows PESB Meeting No. 20/2026.

On 9 March 2026, ONGC appointed Shri Vinod Seshan as Government Nominee Director on its Board. Seshan, with over 20 years of experience in public policy and governance, currently serves as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
His appointment aims to enhance ONGC's efforts in strengthening India's energy security. Concurrently, the PESB recommended Shri Anupam Misra for the post of Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Hindustan Copper Limited, following a meeting that evaluated five candidates. Misra will replace Shri Rajeev Ranjan upon approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
